One of the things that we wanted to do when we finally bought a house was to raise rabbits. We started this project in Ocotober. We found some cheap cages on KSL and then Ryan and Jeff built a hutch to put them in. We got 2 does and 1 buck the next day. Then a few weeks later Ryan found another deal on KSL and this time got his brother in on it. We ended up with 4 more cages and 13 rabbits. Jeff quickly got his shed ready for some rabbits and took 6 of the 13 rabbits. So all together we had 10 rabbits. A few weeks ago Ryan butchered 2 friers. They we mighty tasty!!! So now we have 4 does and 2 bucks. These are our pets and we won't eat them (at least for awhile) but all the babies that they have we will eat. We also have 2 friers that are about ready to become Sunday dinner! When I grew up we rasied rabbits off and on and remember how good rabbit is. It has been good for our kids. It is their job to feed and water the rabbits day and night. For awhile that was a lot of work because the water froze every night and day. But Ryan recently installed an automatic watering system with a heated bucket so now the water doesn't freeze unless it gets to around 5 degrees. We should be eating good about April!!

Here is Hannnah and Jenna holding a New Zealand doe. The rabbits are really big and pretty calm. All of our rabbits are New Zealands except for 1 buck. He is a Californian and has black ears and a black tale and isn't as big.
